Around a year ago, I could open the BBC app quickly. These days, I need to open the app, confirm that I have zero interest in making an account every single time for some reason, and then wait as it struggles to load the splash page. The interface is unresponsive. When reading articles, audio will sometimes play without acknowledgement and without any indication from where it's coming. For a mobile app displaying mostly text and images, the experience is a tedious exercise in patience.

App has grown worse over time, as so many sadly do (slow, cluttered, more fluff in place of useful content), but after a recent "upgrade" now refuses to launch at all on my Pixel 4a 5G. Splash screen appears, then yellow triangle icon & crash .... Old 2019 review: Useful and well-organized. Audio alert for push notifications is annoying, but easily disabled. Please try to add back scroll-bars to news stories... These used to work but have been missing on Android 7.0 for a long time, maybe a year

Used to be easy to use but notifications have been broken for quite some time. Tapping a notification article dumps you onto a page filled with headlines and rarely brings you to the actual article. Who has time to hunt around like that? in addition, with a recent update the app tries to load for 30 seconds and then claims there's no internet connection which is of course not the case. uninstall reinstall does not resolve issue. since it doesn't work I can't even give it 2 stars.

What's new
We're continuing to improve the BBC app with every new update. This update will make it easier to find live coverage, easier to sign in to the app, and an all-around better experience when watching videos.
